What has changed from having the funds for border wall? Currently, the word out of Congress is we are nowhere close to having enough to fund the building of the wall. HERE’S A FLASHBACK….
As Reported by Western Journalism:
Speaking on Fox News Channel’s Fox & Friends, Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said on Friday that he is optimistic President-elect Donald Trump will indeed make good on his promise to construct a border wall.
The Texas Republican pinned failures of similar projects on uncooperative officials in the President Barack Obama administration, saying Congress has appropriated funds for past undertakings only for them to be shut down.
“I’ve been thrilled how our Republican leadership has just gotten all excited about Trump,” Gohmert told co-host Steve Doocy. “It’s amazing what you can get Congress to do when you lead and push them in the right direction.”
Gohmert said this won’t be the case in Trump’s tenure. He expects Congress to work in tandem with the White House to fund and build the wall that Trump boldly proposed at the onset of his campaign.
Gohmert also spoke to the sense of lawlessness about the Obama administration that has infuriated so many, saying he’s pleased Trump will uphold immigration law.
“Actually, you know, we had appropriated money during the Bush administration that didn’t get spent for the wall, so, yeah, it’s going to be great to have somebody that’s actually following the law.”
In the event more funding is needed, Gohmert said more revenue could be redirected to the project from “all of the illegals we’ve been in-processing.”
That money could amount to billions of dollars, Gohmert said, that could go towards the wall.
In regards to the expansiveness of the wall, Gohmert said the wall will not have to extend along the entire U.S. border with Mexico.
